Brandy Helmsworth wasn’t always a beautiful girl but she was used to getting what she wanted. She learned this from an early age she could ask anything of her parents or even her grandparents and it would happen. The only child of Ralph and Gerty Helmsworth, a family originally from England, they opted to raise their only daughter to be an atheist. Why her family ended up in Hutchinson, Kansas, Brandy will never truly know as they were tight lipped about things and when she would bring it up they always shut her down by saying “Brandy, we live for the future, not the past, so why must you bring up hurtful things from the past.” This was always enough to make Brandy feel guilty and shut her up at the same time.

Brandy was always authentically curious as a child, always reading, always paying attention in class, especially science which fascinated her. She was considered a geek growing up; she was taller than most girls in her class and a little lanky. Brandy didn’t have to deal with bullying too much because when the local pretty, popular girl thought she would attempt to keep Brandy in check, well Brandy just hauled off and smacked her right in the nose. She was expelled for three days but it put an end to the girl’s reign of terror before it even started. Brandy didn’t condone violence, but she believed in protecting yourself and your loved ones.
