BLUE MOON - Chapter 17, Excerpt 1

Victor had some sexual thoughts about the witch as well. She dominated his thoughts all day long. He wondered if she would be out tonight and if he would be able to talk her into coming back to his place. He needed to keep a close eye on her and find out just to what extent her powers were or if she was just a want-to-be witch. Hell, anyone can call themselves a witch anymore, but only a few could pull off the magic. He needed to make sure about her, this Gina, because he didn’t need any surprises from her if and when he got her home. What was he saying if, of course, she would come home with him; it was just a matter of when.

This one would be fun to play with he thought. Feeling the steel knives against his legs as he walked around, watching, stalking, and giving him a charge of sexual desire. He thought of the witch tied up, nude and begging him to stop. He knew this one would last longer than the others. But as with all of them, she too would fade from the torture and her body would give out. It didn't matter to him as long as he got what he needed.

“I don’t want you to freak out but when I touched your tattoo I immediately got a charge from it, some vibes of violence and manipulation.” Gina said to him in a calm voice trying to make sure she didn't get Alex worked up. But Gina was trying to keep herself calm to.

“Gina, almost every tattoo on my body has come to me from dreams.” Alex looked at her with wide eyes as he swallowed down his nervousness.

Trying not to jump the gun on this one Gina’s mind was working overtime trying to get a grasp on this. It was way too soon to come to any conclusions, but she feared when they did it wouldn’t be a good one. Gina learned to trust her instincts a long time ago and this time, in this moment, her instincts were on high alert.

As Alex began to do laps in the pool he could feel himself starting to let his mind go but as he made a his way down the length of the pool he started to feel his body tense up, his nerve endings felt like the water was actually starting to burn a bit. Alex opened his eyes with his face in the water to see what could only have been a vision as it appeared at the bottom of the pool and was somewhat blurry from the water. The vision was of a dark, almost black form of a creature with wings. He was startled at first and took in a bit of water. He immediately began hacking the water up as he lifted his head out of the water. Clearing his lungs he quickly placed his head back under the water, knowing he should get out of the pool but let curiosity get the best of him.

“Alex, I’m coming for you.” the blurry vision said in what Alex already knew was the same voice that had been speaking to him, the same one that spoke to him in his dreams and in the bathroom that one morning.

“Why fight it Alex, you are going to set me free.” the voice said as if it were trying to calm Alex down from an already frightened state. “your destiny lies with mine Alex and when our destinies collide, we will set this earth ablaze.”

Victor smiled to himself as he sharpened the knife preparing to go down into the basement to dispose of the body lying dead on the floor. He had to admit, the Balashon had some pretty decked out places around the world and this one in Tulsa was no exception. There was a pit in the deepest part of the basement of the house he was residing in. A pit where he was able to dump the bodies of the ones who were unfortunate enough to walk through the front doors either voluntarily or involuntarily. Either way didn’t matter to Victor, because they never made it back out.

Victor Von Helsberg prided himself on his attention to detail. He was a man who took life seriously and he was a stickler for details. Victor was a strikingly good looking, sexy man with a chiseled face and he used every inch of himself to seduce, manipulate and get what he wanted. Standing at six feet, two inches, he was a brick house, working out every day, training every day for his cause, his entire purpose in this life. He had bulging arms, a huge chest, six pack abs, huge thighs, a round muscular ass; he was a machine, a machine trained to kill. He was covered in tattoos, some for fun, but most had a meaning, a story of his purpose in life.

The smell of bacon and ham filled the tiny diner as did the smell of coffee that had been on the burners for way too long. However when the waitress brought the coffee pot around again to fill up their cups, neither of them bothered to turn her down. At this point caffeine was caffeine. Not much conversation could be heard around the diner since the rush of traffic from when they first arrived started to filter out, leaving only a few remaining guests. The sound most prominent was the squeaking sound of the waitress’s orthopedic shoes as she flitted around the room filling coffee, pulling empty plates, cleaning off already abandoned tables leaving tickets at the tables where people still sat. The squeak was a welcome, although annoying sound in the room, one which was most likely due to the grease and film layering the floors in the kitchen area attaching itself to the bottom of her shoes making an odd sound as her foot lifted then came back in contact with the floor. Gina and Demetri both just looked at each other and smiled.

Just then a loud commotion broke out next to them and when Demetri opened up his mind to their thoughts he could tell it was two alpha males arguing about a submissive young male who was dressed in short leather shorts, a leather tank top and was wearing a leather dog mask. It seemed the submissive dog wasn’t being so submissive to his dominate male and attracted the attention of another master seeking to dominate. Before anyone could even think about stepping in to calm things down the current master of the young pup kicked the youngling in the stomach smashing him into a wall about 5 feet away. He hit the wall so hard the picture hanging on the wall came crashing down onto his head and shattering the glass everywhere. It didn’t matter though because the boy was out cold.

Then the two men took after each other with the intent of only one of them walking out of the bar. They were swinging fists at each other, grabbing at clothes and blood was already flying everywhere, which wasn’t a good thing with vampires lurking nearby.

He could hear them talking about him, hear their thoughts when he allowed them inside his head, but unless he was extremely bored or on the hunt he liked to keep them as far out of his head as possible. Walking up to the bar he ordered a shot of whiskey, turned his back to the bar and leaned back against it. Scanning the main room to see who was there, he could make out a few familiar faces, some human, some not so much anymore but for the most part everyone seemed to be in a semi-peaceful mood. Peace could quickly change into chaos, at a moment’s notice, when you have a clientele made up of humans and those who hunt humans for prey. The underworld had to learn to evolve and adapt their eating habits if they wanted to be included in this modern world today. Some still kept to the darkness, to the basement called The Underside, but that was more by choice than necessity.

BLUE MOON - Chapter 10, Excerpt 1

Demetri was restless and needing some action. Demetri was in between job assignments right now and had a lot of time on his hands. What he did for work, well most would never believe and that was ok, they didn’t have to. It wasn’t something you would find him posting at the Tulsa chapter of the Better Business Bureau. Demetri loved what he did; it paid him handsomely and allowed him to work on perfecting his powers. Demetri was what some would call a supernatural bounty hunter, but he took precautions to ensure no one got hurt, but that isn’t always possible. He actually would consider himself more of a supernatural private detective. When someone found themselves in trouble, their spouse or child was being attacked or had been attacked by the supernatural Demetri would come in and make sure everything turned out in the best possible manner, depending on what the call was. Sometimes it was too late and someone was either dead, or was turned into a supernatural creature, but a job was a job and like it or not, it paid him enough that he was not hurting for anything.
